Northeast Wisconsin Public Safety Communications (NEWCOM)
This group identifies the communication needs for the Northeast Wisconsin area, helping 500+ law enforcement and public safety organizations communicate effectively throughout the region.
Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM)
WEM coordinates effective disaster response and recovery efforts with local, state, federal, and tribal agencies, as well as volunteer and private sector partners. They support all 72 Wisconsin counties and bring emergency management services to Wisconsin's 5.6 million citizens.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Universal Licensing System (ULS)
This is an electronic filing system for wireless licensing and research needs. Users are able to research applications, licenses, and antenna structures. It also keeps users informed with weekly public notices, FCC rulemakings, processing utilities, and a telecommunications glossary.
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
FEMA supports citizens, first responders, and emergency efforts to build, sustain, and improve U.S. capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.
FirstNet's mission is to develop, build, and operate the nationwide public safety broadband network that equips first responders to protect and serve U.S. communities.
Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP)
This program provides tools and training to emergency communications professionals and responders.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
The NHTSA is responsible for keeping people safe on America's roadways. Through education, research, safety standards, and enforcement activity, they endeavor to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce economic costs due to road traffic crashes.
National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA)
Housed within the Department of Commerce, the NTIA is responsible by law for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy issues. Their programs and policymaking are largely focused on expanding broadband internet access and adoption, expanding the use of spectrum, and ensuring that the internet remains an engine for continued innovation and economic growth.
Office of Emergency Communications (OEC)
Housed within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), this office supports and promotes the ability of emergency responders and government officials to continue to communicate in the event of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters.
This is a DHS communications program which conducts interoperability research and develops, tests, and evaluates interoperable communication methods to provide guidance, tools, and templates for local, tribal, state, and federal emergency response agencies.
Public Safety Professional Associations
Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO)
This organization provides public safety communications expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy, and outreach to benefit both members and the public.
Badger State Sheriff’s Association (BSSA)
The BSSA was formed as a means to assist each Sheriff within the state of Wisconsin with the duties and responsibilities associated with serving the citizens of their county.
National Emergency Number Association (NENA)
NENA strives to improve 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy. It works with 9-1-1 professionals nationwide, public policy leaders, emergency services and telecommunications partners, and other stakeholder groups to develop and implement critical programs and initiatives.
Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC)
This is an independent regulatory agency responsible for the regulation of Wisconsin public utilities, including those that are municipally owned.
Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association (WCPA)
The WCPA provides quality training and assistance to Chiefs of Police, associate members of their command staff, other law enforcement officers, and advisors.
Wisconsin Emergency Management Association (WEMA)

Wisconsin Sheriff's & Deputy Sheriff's Association (WS&DSA)
This is a community between the Sheriffs, Deputy Sheriffs, and Jail Officers in Wisconsin. The association promotes better public welfare by facilitating law enforcement, preventing crime, apprehending criminals, and proving information and education material to law enforcement organizations.
Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association (WSFCA)
The WSFCA provides leadership, education, advocacy, and networking for fire departments across the state.
